Jack Ross, nicknamed Big Ross, was the father of Tim Ross and the husband of Nell Ross. Before the events of The Wind Through the Keyhole (tale), Jack is said to have been killed by a dragon, according to Big Kells, Jack's best friend. However, after The Covenant Man comes to Tree, he slowly reveals to Tim Ross that Big Kells actually killed Jack, to have Nell as his wife.
