Adopting the wiki

Hi there

The Dark Tower Wiki have been supported by only one Bureaucrat Stan Richards for 5 years. He's been doing a great job to keep to the wiki from vandalism while also contributing a lot with characters and book page. However, as he currently inactive rigth now, there's no one to taking care of this wiki.

You've all already heard about the upcoming Dark Tower series produced by Amazon Prime right? As they already revealed the aired date, this wiki already crowded back by new editor and etc. However, some of them are not contributing the way of how wiki supposed to run. There are many unnecessary pages without even a proper context that has been created only to expand the wiki. This wiki also threatened by an amount of unregistered peopl…

The adaptation of The Gunslinger are now in planning stages! Not much else has been revealed about the long-awaited project other than "some characters that appeared in King's other 50+ works will indeed appear", as stated by the Deadline.

Stephen King may have not released any Dark Tower novels, or stated that he will, but other novels are on their way, including 'End of Watch', and it is known that King has many ties to the Dark Tower in other works.

Other than that, the comics move forward, st…

Dark Tower Movies Confirmed?

Last week Sony Pictures announced that it is financing a Dark Tower Movie project!  It seems like the format of three movies connected by two TV series is still likely.  We've heard things like this several times before, but Sony already picked up a script and Stephen King is completely on-board.

Sometime ago Robin Furth, writer of the much acclaimed Dark Tower Comics imprinted by Marvel Comics claimed that The Journey Begins would probably be the last Dark Tower comic done. However, with such a wanted series, that statement did not last, and so The Gunslinger comics were produced. Once again, after the run, Robin Furth and the creative team claimed it was time to hang up the towel.

Well, looks like they're at it again! Not long after adapting the first book into a serie…

It has recently been brought to my attention by my faith right hand, NickP96 , that we have recently had an issue with users/outsiders angered and distressed that we are using their images without permission.

Now, this does not give us a real legal  issue, it does give us a trust and community issue.

For the community, as a whole, what this means is that as we use images, especially those that are fanworks obtained online, a user should ask permission from the poster/author. If the poster/author does not respond in a week, I would say it should be okay to use it here.

Even I use this process. I even went so far as to email Gregory Hill when his images were release for the Dark Tower Movie (mind you I got no reply back from Mr. Hill).

However…

If you dreamed of creating a "ka-tet" that were made by many of the anti-heroes of Stephen King, which characters would you choose?

NOTE: Initially, I was going to write this on the Stephen King Wiki, but it turned out this Wiki is a lot more visited. Anyway, I'll talk.

Recently, I’ve been wondering what could happen if author Stephen King would unite most of his heroes and antiheroes into one big adventure. So, I’ve been making a list a number of protagonists of the works of the author, but I don’t know how this team would be formed. There are a few ways:

  1. There could be SEVEN members in this new ka-tet, the gunslinger is the center (as the Tower) and the other six represent the Beams, or…
  2. There could be THIRTEEN members: besides the gunslinger, the other twelve as the new guardians (similar to the twelve animals or Maerlyn's Rainbow).
  3. As you already want, the ka-tet can b…

I am officially returning to the site, as I know I've been lacking in my contribution here. Tower News: Straight from the Top to You

Call it the Dark Tower Post, call it Traveller's News (which I'd like opinion on the Poll as well as below), call it what you want, it's time for October's Dark Tower News! This post we look at what's trending on the Wiki, and the direction it's going.

It's no secret that I dabble in game creation. It's also no secret that I'd love the Dark Tower in all formats. Well my game creation sector, Sigma Games and my production company, Sheep in a Crate, have been working very hard working a concept for a Dark Tower Platformer (with artwork for Roland even near completion).

So keep your eyes peeled, you won't want to miss it.

So that's the news- for now! I'll see how this post goes, and from there, I'll bring you guys more of what you want to hear (and…

Connecting the Stephen King wikis

Hi! I'm SingingEarth from the Haven wiki!

Haven is a show on the Syfy channel that's loosely based on The Colorado Kid. In my work on the Haven wiki, I recently discovered that there are a lot of Stephen King wikis:

I recently discovered that there are a lot of Stephen King wikis:

  • Stephen King
  • Stephen King bloopers
  • Dark Tower
  • The Mist
  • Under The Dome
  • Haven
  • Dreamcatcher - abandoned
  • The Dead Zone - abandoned

And these are just the few I found looking for them. Most of these wikis don't show up in a wikia search for "Stephen King".

I'm hoping that we can link our wikis together. We could create a template linking all the King wikis and put it on our front pages. And, if we have someone technically minded, I think it's even possible to make it so that links from o…

Gunslinger Audio Book Now Available!

If a user visits The Gunslinger page, there is now a section for the audiobook version. We will not be providing any other audiobooks.

The reason for posting the audiobook is to reach out to new readers. I highly encourage that people purchase the books, however as a preview, the audiobook can attract newcomers. Some people also find it an easier start with the audiobook.

This video was posted on Youtube, and we are using it as well. I personally have no rights to the audiobook, and all rights go to their respective owners.

Next Post: A special surprise for my Wiki fans. A sneak peek at an exciting new project my ka-tet and I have been working on!

Beyond the Unfound Door

So I wanted to make a quick little post on here about a pretty unique article I saw about the connection Stephen King makes between his other works and The Dark Tower series. Since DT is his magnum opus and he worked on it over decades it only makes sense that 'all things serve the beam' in Mid-World and beyond. Like I said I just wanted to make a quick post to be able to share this link so I am not going to get into the connections, way to many to be quick. Plus half the joy is finding them yourself and traveling on the hidden highways, but if you do need help check out the Tie-In_Books catergory.

So without further typing or time wasting narrative here is the article from BuzzFeed Books These Stephen King Connections Will Blow Your Mind. …

Questions Concerning the End

Hello all.  I finished the series an hour ago after starting it about 18 months ago (what an ending!!), and I have about a million thoughts and questions.  However, five came to mind immediately.  MAJOR SPOILERS are ahead, so read on at your own risk if you haven't finished the series.

1.  Very near the end, when Roland Deschain tells Patrick Danville to draw the Crimson King, Patrick says it will be difficult because, "He darkles, he tincts."  Roland seems to slightly recall this phrase from earlier on, but doesn't have the time to consider it.  I can't remember it at all, so when was it first said, and what does it mean?

2.  After Oy's death, Roland remembers seeing an image of the scene of his death when looking into Maerlyn's Grapefruit, …

question about little plot hole

Hey guys,

i'm not sure if this is the place for these kind of things but i couldn't find another place for it so i thought I might as well do it here.

Anyway as the title says i have a little question about a small plot hole i wondered about while reading susannah's song (first time so please no spoilers). So in this book they at a certain point describe Roland's and Eddies gunna (worldly possesions) and what I couldn't find is Roland's knife. I seem to remember him having a really sharp blade with an onyx grip in "the drawing of three" but I haven't seen it mentioned since. Where did this knife go? Or is this the knife mentioned as Eddies gunna as his carving knife?

Anyway if anyone else noticed this or has a comment or answer to this, pleas…

This post is in response to the numerous complaints I have been reading over the various talk pages, posted by non-registered users. Be aware, I am the only active admin remaining on this site, and as seen from recent editing history in the Wiki Activity, the only editor as well.

IT's Ten O'Clock People!

Perhaps a close second novel for me, in regards to "What is the Greatest Stephen King Novel?" is probably IT. (The first being The Dark Tower). When I finally seen the TV adaptation of the great novel, I was severly disappointed. IT was lacking so many elements that made the book great. It was alright, if you didn't already read the novel. Other then that, after you compare the novel and the mini-series, it's trash.

Luckily there is news that Stephen King's IT is being adapted into a movie. Not just one though, two movies. This opens up so many possibilities to actually do it right, and I'll tell you why.

!!!Some spoilers from the novel and the mini-series follow. Read at your own risk. I warned you!!!

IT is approximately 1100 pages (in soft …

The Wind Through The Keyhole: People Thoughts

Ok so I have just finished reading the Wind Through The Keyhole and I gotta say I loved everything about it.

(Ignoring the fact that it clashes with the Marvel Comics created as either the comics or the book couldn't happen, though I am inclined like others to believe the events of King's book over the Comics)

Wind Through the Keyhole Can't Work as a Book can it!?!?

I have been reading the book description from amazon.com and quite frankly the book cannot exist, the storyline could never have happened.

It states:

in the guilt-ridden year following his mother’s death, Roland is sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-shifter.

For those that have read the Fall of Gilead comic you will know that this just ISN'T POSSIBLE. Roland is imprisoned straight after killing his mother and as soon as he is let out of prison his father is killed and Roland has to prepare the city to fight John Farson.

Where is this year that is suppose to have happened when his father is dead and John Farson attacks merely days after he killed his mother?

It seems that Marvel Comics and Stephen King have not check…

Impact of King's writing

Sai King is a fantastic writer. He has created some many great novels and an ultimate universe that encompasses all universes. His books have impacted me greatly as a teenager, a constant reader and an aspiring writer.

For the past four years I have been on a journey of self doubt, fear and a struggle. However, reading King's books would do something to me in the way some other writers were lacking. I think the first novel that made me take Stephen King so seriously was IT. I had read Duma Key and a few other books before but IT was just an emotional book. The Loser's ka-tet was well met, and their journey was great and I feel that it was perhaps the ending that affected me the most:

"He awakens from this dream unable to remember exactly wha…

Roland's Ammo?

Hile Gunslingers!

I've recent started reading DT for the 3rd time. My question is: Where does Roland get/store his ammo?

In Tull, he shoots 38(?) people, and misses once. His bullets get wet at the beginning of DT2. He gets 200 rounds in DT3 while in NYC. (the.45s). Surely he went through a lot of ammo when teaching Susannah/Eddie/Jake to shoot. Where does he get all those bullets?

Your thoughts?

Dark Tower on HBO?

Has The Dark Tower series finally found a home at HBO? After years of being shunted around as a potential movie, TV series, and miniseries, producer Brian Glazer is claiming that The Dark Tower will be coming to HBO.

Glazer is determined to produce both a TV series and a movie:

“We’re going to do ['The Dark Tower'] with HBO. We’ll do the TV with HBO, and we’ll do the movie with … to be determined. We’ll do it right.”

Javier Bardem is still on board for Roland Deschain as well. Hopefully we'll see another spectacular HBO show come out of The Dark Tower!

Roland's ammunition

This is merely trivial, but Roland's guns, although made in another world, were designed for ammunition that is apparently similar enough to the .45 Winchester that he could re-stock from a modern gun store. However, the .45 Winchester is not meant for revolvers.

It might work if the Excaliburs loaded one cartridge at a time through a small gate, with the cylinder rotated 1/6 of a turn before loading the next. However, even Roland would have extreme difficulty doing this twelve times with two guns while simeltaneously running away from a mob. The Excaliburs would need to be either 'top-break' or have a cylinder which extracts from the gun sideways, like a modern revolver.
