Nine years pass as Roland Deschain and his friends head for the Dark Tower, recounting the years he remembers how he consulted the ghost of Stone Circle Druits, though by the end of their journey they once again find themselves facing the ruins of Gilead.
Edoacer Grissom is seen testing out a laser with Wurtz on a captive who is disintegrated. Roland and others witness this happen and he and his friends attack and destroy the laser.
Randolph watches over his family Chloe and Edmund and they go off to collect food but are then kidnapped without his knowledge.
