Sam Padick, also known as Sam the Miller, is the adoptive father of Walter Padick. He lived in the town of Delain in the Eastar'd Barony.
Dark Tower series[]
Sam is mentioned in the final book of the Dark Tower series, where it is revealed that he is the foster father of Walter, the biological child of Maerlyn. In Fedic, when Walter attempts to deceive Mordred Deschain in order to gain the child's birthmarked leg to enter the Dark Tower, the newborn were-spider is not fooled; to the sorcerer's mounting horror, Mordred reveals that he was able to easily discern Walter's intent, additionally revealing that he knows Walter's birth name: Walter Padick, a name Walter admits he had not used and no one had known for years. As he is brutalized and killed by Mordred, Walter reminisces on how he was taken in by Sam, but at age 13 he burned down the house and ran away. After being sexually assaulted by a traveler, Walter had considered returning home, but chose instead to continue on his journey. It is unknown what became of Sam.
