The Waste Land is a 1922 poem written by T.S. Eliot. It is one of the most famous poems in modern literature. It is written in five parts: The Burial of the Dead, A Game of Chess, The Fire Sermon, Death by Water, and What the Thunder Said.

Connection to the Dark Tower SeriesEdit

  • Stephen King uses a line from the The Waste Land to introduce a section in the series, "I will show you fear in a handful of dust."
  • Included in "The Burial of the Dead" is a tarot card game. King used similar cards when Roland Deschain held palaver with Walter Padick at the Golgotha. They include a drowning Sailor, a "lady of situations", and a man with something on his back.
